Απόσπασμα από επιστολή της Τατιάνας από το Τομπόλσκ, προς την φίλη της Βαλεντίνα Τσεμποτάριοβα, 1/14 Μαΐου 1918, 3 βδομάδες μετά τον προσωρινό χωρισμό της οικογένειας.
Πώς περάσετε τις εορτές του Πάσχα; Για εμάς ήταν μια θλιμμένη περίοδος, αφού ήμασταν χωρίς τον πατέρα και την μητέρα. Έχετε ήδη πιθανώς ακούσει ότι τους πήραν μακριά μας. Ήταν τόσο λυπηρό που μας χώρισαν από αυτούς. Σίγουρα καταλαβαίνετε. Η Μαρία πήγε μαζί τους και εμείς μείναμε μαζί με τον αδελφό μας, ο οποίος είναι άρρωστος. Φυσικά δεν μας έλεγαν πού τούς έπαιρναν και για ποιο σκοπό, ούτε και αυτοί γνώριζαν τίποτα. Σχεδόν μια εβδομάδα μετά την αναχώρησή τους, μάθαμε ότι έφτασαν στο Αικατερίνμπουργκ. Λαμβάνουμε τώρα επιστολές από αυτούς. Είναι μεγάλη η χαρά μας.
Η καρδιά της μητέρας πονάει πάρα πολύ, ως συνέπεια του φοβερού ταξιδιού προς την Τιουμέν, διότι έπρεπε να ταξιδέψουν με άλογα πάνω από 210 χιλιόμετρα μέσω ενός τρομερά άσχημου δρόμου. Διανυκτέρευαν σε χωριά. Τώρα ζουν σε τρία δωμάτια. Έξω από τα παράθυρά τους υπάρχει ένας τεράστιος φράχτης, οπότε κανείς βλέπει μόνο την κορυφή μιας Εκκλησίας. Αναμένουμε τώρα να φύγουμε σύντομα, μόλις ο αδελφός μας ανακάμψει πλήρως.
